M - Musical I - Instrument D - Digital I - Interface In simple terms, a computer protocol (language) that allows a suitably modified instrument to act as a command source for a sound card where digital sounds are stored. The instrument is fitted with a system of switches and sensors that detect the players inputs and converts them into computer commands. In the Limex system the advanced analogue sensors are capable of providing data that can be used to enable key velocity and the Central Processing Unit (computer chip) has an on board pressure sensor that provides bellows pressure input enabling accurate dynamic volume.
